Gerwald Claus-Brunner

Gerwald Claus-Brunner (19 May 1972 – 19 September 2016)[1][2] was a bisexual German politician who joined the Pirate Party Berlin in 2009. In 2011, he became a member of the Berlin Parliament. On 19 September 2016, his body was found in his home in the Steglitz area of Berlin along with the body of a 29-year-old Jan Mirko L. It was later discovered that Gerwald had killed Jan, who suffered blunt trauma to the head and died from strangulation, in the Wedding area of Berlin and then brought the body to his home in Steglitz, where he then killed himself after sending a letter to a former significant other. Gerwald was not, as rumor had it, incurably ill.[3][2][4][5]

Gerwald took to wearing both a kufiya (كوفية‎‎) and a Star of David. This became a habit of his after he was rebuked by Charlotte Knobloch, at that time the President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, for wearing a kufiya. She held that it stood for nationalism, armed fighting and anti-Zionism. That was when he decided to start wearing a Star of David around his neck as well.[3]
